Here + Now Residency in Carnamah
SEW-Arts (Social Emotional Wellbeing using Arts) workshops with Years 3/4/5/6 at Carnamah District High School, as well as two community workshops in Moora and Morawa in 2024.
"The past four weeks, the second part of my residency has sped by (time flies when you are having fun!). From day one, I hit the ground running. For the SEW-Arts school works with Years 3-6 at Carnamah District High School, I prepared a series of amulets promoting reflection and wellbeing for the students. They engaged well with it and enjoyed being able to create their personal piece of jewellery. In each of the four sessions, students created an amulet and understood the concept of writing positive messages and wearing them close to their bodies.
My Community Lunch + Workshop events at Gardiner Street Arts Collective (Moora) and Morawa CRC were a great success; we had a dozen women at each event. I prepared a trinket tray made from seed pods for them to emulate. They painted them and constructed the object (several ladies made more than a couple of them!) It was very popular!
I am so thankful to North Midlands Project and the team for giving me this opportunity to engage with the community, to spend time creatively here, and for supporting me 'on the ground'."
